What does Vitalect do?

Vitalect is a customizable online learning solution, that helps you create, assemble and deliver online learning content, as well as administer, track and report on its usage. Vitalect's professional services provide the content development expertise that helps transform proprietary customer content into media-rich online content. For companies with in-house resources, we also provide content development methodology which ensures that content developed once can be leveraged for multiple needs such as Instructor-led training, manuals, and online training.

How does Vitalect work?

Vitalect provides a fully hosted solution at a secure data center. Users simply connect to Vitalect via the Internet. Just as you connect to your favorite website, you can connect to Vitalect and author or learn. In short, all you need to use the Vitalect system is a Web browser and an Internet connection.

I'm a Training Manager. How can I benefit from using Vitalect?

Vitalect provides you an easy, effective and affordable mechanism to deliver self-paced online learning. Just as you and your team deliver instructor led training, Vitalect provides a means for you to train your audience anytime, anywhere leveraging the power of the internet. You remain focused on the content and leave the delivery challenge to us. Once you put together your content, we ensure that it is available 24x7 and give you the tools to administer, track and report on it without the need for any training. Using the Vitalect system is as easy as visiting your favorite website.

I am an independent trainer. Can I still use Vitalect?

Yes! Our Basic Edition is tailored specifically towards independent trainers who wish to tap the internet as an alternate source of revenue in addition to their revenue from Instructor led training classes. The pricing is specifically structured such that you pay as you grow. No large upfront investments.

Can an entire team of trainers use the Vitalect system?

The Vitalect Techniq™ Platform supports several roles such as learners, authors, instructor, reviewers and administrators. Depending upon your role in the organization, you can control access to different parts of the system.

Techniq™ Platform Questions & Answers

What platforms do I need to have in order to use the Vitalect system?
Vitalect's Techniq™ Platform is a hosted application. Hence, all you need is a computer with an internet connection and a Web browser. It doesn't matter what type of hardware or operating system you're running.

How do I get upgrades to Vitalect?

Because Vitalect solution is fully hosted, any time we add a new feature, you will have access to it immediately the next time you visit the Website. There is no need to download any software or make system changes.

Which product is appropriate for my company?

It depends on your company's requirements. If you are looking to explore online learning, the Intermediate edition is a good and inexpensive start. If you are already familiar with online learning and have a broader deployment planned, a custom edition will be more appropriate.

Can I upgrade from one Edition to another?

Yes. All you need to do is to complete the necessary agreement and we can upgrade a customer within 48 hours.

What is the IT Infrastructure of Vitalect?

Our Infrastructure that makes 24x7 on demand training possible includes servers, databases, backups, recovery, security, monitoring, redundancy in order to ensure the highest availability and reliability.

Is any training required to learn to use the Vitalect system?

The Techniq™ platform is designed to be easy to learn and can be used immediately. All users are given automatic access to two free courses. One covers the Techniq™ LMS functionality and the other describes the Techniq™ Author functionality. If you have questions while using the system, you are welcome to send email to support@vitalect.com

What involvement is required from my company's IT department?

None. Vitalect is a hosted solution. As long as you have access to the Internet and a browser (IE 5.5+ or Netscape 4.7x) you should be able to use our system. In general a connection speed of at least 56K is recommended.

How quickly can my company be up and running?

Depending up on the edition setup can take anywhere from 8 to 48 hours.

Can I get my report information out of the system?

Yes, all reports can be exported to Microsoft Excel by selecting the "Export to Excel" button in the display of every report.

Can I upload users in bulk?

No. You will need to provide the list of users to us, and we will upload them for you. You can send email to support@vitalect.com with the list and the request will be addressed in less than 24 hours.

Does Vitalect offer services to help me create content for my courses?

Yes. However, this is a separate services engagement. The costs for this are entirely dependent on time and materials as well as scope of the project.

Free Trial Questions & Answers

What edition does the free trial give me?

The Free trial is for the Basic Edition only. The Intermediate and Custom Editions have greater functionality, but the experience with the system is identical.

What happens to my content after 30 days?

If at any time during your 30-day, risk-free trial, you decide that you are not ready to purchase, you may download all of your content from the Techniq™ Author. We will purge the content out of our system 30 days after your trial expires.

How do I work when I am not connected to the Internet?

If you are a learner you could take a course without being connected to the net by installing the Techniq™ Desktop Tutor and the course package. If you are an author of content you could assemble, structure and organize content using the Techniq™ Portfolio tool.

Can the offline Tutor synchronize to the LMS on the web?

Yes. An offline user can upload his/her usage information, quiz scores etc by one click synchronize operation. Its very simple to use.

Operational Questions & Answers

What happens when the Vitalect servers go down?

Vitalect has built redundancy into all its systems in order to minimize any system failures that could be perceived as customer outages. All components are proactively monitored and managed so that faults are detected before system outages. However, there may occasionally be system outages due to issues beyond our control. Since the application is managed by Vitalect for all customers, the people who best understand the architecture, installation, and design are immediately available to resolve any issues.

What browsers and Operating Systems are supported by your online courses?

The online courses are officially supported on Windows 98, 2000, NT 4.0, XP and Sun Solaris, and are qualified to run on Netscape Navigator 4.76* or greater and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or greater.

*For the best possible browsing experience, we recommend Netscape 6.2 or greater and IE 6.0 or greater

Do I have to follow any setup instructions before I start the courses?

The online courses can contain animations, audio and/or video that may require the use of third-party plugins. To view the courses in the best possible manner, we recommend you go through the Online Setup Instructions prior to starting any course to ensure that you can view the various media types.

Is my information protected?

Special steps are taken to ensure that your information is not lost, altered or misused. Because your account is password protected only you have access to your information. Additionally, in the interest of security we have a "time out" period to ensure that no misuse occurs in case you forget to sign out.

Is the site secure?

We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to Log out when finished using a shared computer.

What should I do if I am having problems logging in or have other course related problems?

I know that I have plugin "x" (e.g. Real, Flash) installed on my machine. Why is it not working with your course?

The online courses may utilize various plugins to enhance the learning experience. To verify that the plugins are working properly, test the plugins to confirm proper installation. If any of the tests fail, you may need to reinstall the required components as outlined in the browser tests. If you still have problems after attempting to reinstall components, please contact support@vitalect.com
