Structure

Our Web Based Learning Courses (WBLs, for short) have four distinct parts. The
Top Bar has control and navigation tools that a student can use to control,
pace and personalize the learning process. The Left Bar acts like the
table of contents of a book, the Title Bar exactly tells the user the
current location in the course and the Body Area contains the course content.

Anatomy of the Top Bar (Dashboard)

The Top bar is comprised of many features that enhance the learning
experience. Here are a few.
- The Auto Mode walks the user through the
whole course without him or her having to click anywhere.
- The About link explains how the
WBL can be used, what its different features are and how to use them.
- The Glossary alphabetically lists all the difficult words in the section.
When you click on an alphabet, the appropriate glossary for that section
starting with the selected alphabet will be shown. We also provide another
powerful feature called page wise glossary. This means that every single page
can have a page specific glossary. Thus, as you browse through the course,
explanation of difficult terms and concepts are readily available.
- The FAQ is a dynamic document
that is a compilation of all frequently asked questions. The FAQ is organized
according to the Section and the Page. Further, the page wise FAQ utility
provides the student ready access to context specific questions.
- Notes. This utility has provision for both
instructor notes as well
as user notes. Instructor notes for each page are added while the course
is being designed. The user notes on the other hand are totally under
the control of the student. The student can add, delete, modify, download
and print these notes. The user can also make his/her notes available to
others in the course or access shared notes from this page.
- The Bookmark takes the user to a specific page useful in
a coursework with a single click.
- Search. Our WBL search feature is a very powerful algorithm that searches
through the entire courseware. Further, the keyword search can be performed
exclusively in specific sets of pages like user notes, instructor notes,
coursework pages, FAQ or Glossary. A Boolean algorithm specially handles
multiple word search and refined search. The results are documented in
a simple list in the order of relevance.
- The Progress feature helps the student keep track of the progress
in the course such as how much time was spent in a particular page or
section.
- All our courses include a real-time Chat feature. This is a powerful
tool that lets the user interact with other users in real time. Further,
it gives an opportunity for an instructor to participate in the chat.
- Using the Bulletin Board students can search, read and post messages
that are threaded in the archives. This is a very useful feature especially
when people from different time zones want to communicate with each other.
Our web based Training modules have Flash based animations to explain
concepts that cannot be easily explained by still images, like a flow
process or a procedure. The learning modules are fully filled with enough animations that the user will never feel a lack of
engaging information.
We also integrate user-interaction, simulation and other useful features
into these animations.
